David Cameron Does A U-Turn Over The Date Of A Scottish Referendum

The SNP campaign director Angus Robertson MP said: "After a year of huffing and puffing and trying to dictate the timescale of Scotland's referendum from Westminster, Mr Moore and the anti-independence parties have collapsed in a heap over the date. "It is a very welcome step forward, but begs the question of why they spent such a long time making a fuss about something that even the Prime Minister says he is 'not fussed' about. Mr Robertson pointed out that the Electoral Commission had drawn "particular attention" to the need to allow proper time to prepare for the referendum. He added: "Having lost on the process, this is a serious blow to the credibility of the No campaign in terms of the substance of the debate on Scotland's future."
The launch of the pro-independence Yes Scotland campaign on Friday saw famous faces such as actors Brian Cox and Alan Cumming team up with politicians including First Minister Alex Salmond. Supporters at the event, staged in an Edinburgh cinema, signed a "Yes declaration" stating it is "fundamentally better" if decisions about the country's future are taken by the people of Scotland. The campaign aims to get 1,000,000 voters to sign the declaration before the referendum.

Dennis Canavan Speaks Out About His Conversion

The former Labour party veteran has spoken out about his conversion to the cause of Scottish Independence. He told the Good Morning Scotland programme: "My conversion stems from my experience of 25 years as a Westminster MP and eight years as an MSP. "That experience forced me to come to the conclusion that the Westminster Parliament is completely out of touch with the people of Scotland whereas the Scottish Parliament does respond more readily to the values, the needs and the aspirations of the people of Scotland."

Ireland Best Place To Invest In Western Europe

Increase Of Irish Passport Applications In The Six Counties

Since the post office in the North introduced its Accept and Send service in 2007 there have been 149,800 applications for a Irish passport. Expect an even bigger increase as it has has been revealed recently that students from the North holding Irish passports are exempt from paying fees at Scottish Universities.

A meeting took place this week at the Edinburgh home of former chancellor Alistair Darling. In attendence were Douglas Alexander and Jim Murphy of the Labour Party. Also there were Andrew Cooper and David McLechie from the Tory party.Euan Roddin was there as well representing the Liberal Democrats. These men spent  about 3 hours thrashing out the Abbotsford Accord there plan to block Scottish Independence. Mr Darling is now the leader of the Pro-Union Alliance against Scottish Independence. Mr Darling is hardly a inspiring or charismatic leader. And the other names mentioned don't exactly set the house on fire.

Jack Straw Says Rupert Murdoch Was Willing To Play Political Leaders

Jack Straw the veteran labour cabinet minister told the Leveson Inquiry "Mr Murdoch has enjoyed the fact he has been willing to play with political leaders in a way others have not because their loyalty is predictable," he said. "He's very interested in power, for its own its sake," Straw added." And I think to help him consolidate his non-newspaper interests in this country." Long Term Unemployment At It's Highest Rate In 16 Years

Long term unemployment is at it's highest rate in 16 years. It has increased by 27,000 to 887,000 people without work for more than a year. This is the worse it has been since 1996 when of course John Major's Tory Government was coming to a end. So when it comes to dealing with long term unemployment David Cameron is about as useful as John Major.

The Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair once wanted to end a speech during the Iraq War with the words "God Bless Britain". A committee was then set up to look into the issue.His aides told him that this is not America and the idea was dropped.
Mr Blair was speaking at a conference organised by a leading evangelical church. He also said that a world without religion would be on the road to tragedy and disaster.

500,000 people could lose their DLA benefits under a new government crackdown. Iain Duncan Smith the Works and Pension Secretary has said that even people who have lost a limb should not expect to recieve DLA benefit. 2 million people are to under go medical checks over the next 4 years. The Disability Living Allowance is set to be replaced by the Personal Independence Payment.

The new President of France has accused Britain of only caring about the City of London and being indifferent to the fate of the Eurozone. Mr Hollande has wasted no time getting stuck in to the problems facing his country and the rest of the world.He has also repeated his call for tax increases on the rich. He also signalled his support for an EU-wide transaction tax on financial deals and a fresh push for tax harmonisation – both of which are fiercely opposed by the British Government.

The Libertarian Party yesterday choose Gary Johnson as it's candidate for US president for 2012. Mr Johnson was the Republican Governor of New Mexico from 1995-2003. While he was Governor he used his veto more than 200 times in his first 6 months of office. In fact during his two terms as Governor he used the veto more times than all of his predecessors combined. So while many Republican politicans talk about cutting government spending Gary Johnson was walked the walk instead of talking the talk.

The people of Scotland tomorrow get the chance to elect councillors to 32 local councils. It will be seen by many as a referendum on the SNP government elected last May at Holyrood. Rupert Murdoch is not a fit person to run a international company according to a select committee of British mp's. His son James Murdoch is accused by the same select committee of a "lack of curiosity … wilful ignorance even" when it came to paying the settlement of £700,000 to Gordon Taylor of the Professional Footballers Association.
