Party On Dudes

So Basil McCrea is setting up a new political party after all. After leaving the UUP and some flirting with the Tories he has decided to set up a party of his own. He will be the new party leader. Basil McCrea and John McCallister said their party will be "confident, progressive and pro-union". All he needs now is a name for this new party which will not be easy as words are like weapons they wound inside in the Six Counties. And of course he will need new party members it will be interesting to see where he gets them from. According to the BBC we can expect the new party to be launched in April so plenty of time for Basil and John to get things ironed out.

The Moody Blues

Britain has lost it's triple A credit rating according to Moody's the respected credit rating agency. We can now expect more public sector cuts and more people being made unemployed. All thanks of course to George Osborne and the way he has steered the British economy on to the rocks. Britain could soon enter a triple dip recession and that will I am sure leave many people asking the question what does George Osborne have to do in order to get sacked as Chancellor?

Why Is The Belfast Telegraph in Decline?

Maybe it has something to do with its obsession with celebrities like Christine Bleakley and Rory McIlroy. Not to mention employing the worlds worst newspaper columnist Gail Walker. Or it could be its rubbish political coverage. It could have something to do with its printing of bogus opinion polls. And of course there is also its delivery service which is terrible. All I can say is if it continues like this lets hope the decline is terminal.

It's A Man's World?

A recent opinion poll shows that women in Scotland have yet to be convinced of the merits of Scottish Independence. Women seem far more sceptic than men do about the benefits of Scotland declaring its freedom from the United Kingdom. But why is this I wonder? Is it because women depend more on the welfare state than men do? Or is it for some other reason? The bedrock of support for Scottish Nationalism seems to come from men and younger voters. But women need to be convinced and should now be targeted by the Yes campaign.

Unionist Unity: Basil And John Do A Runner

Well so much for Unionist Unity within 12 hours of the joint UUP/DUP candidate for Mid-Ulster being unveiled two UUP MLA's resign from the party. Basil McCrea(Lagan Valley)and John McCallister(South Down) both look likely to form a brand new Unionist party open to all. Interesting times lie ahead in the North. Mike Nesbitt is not a great leader and seems hell-bent on unity with the DUP.

Hell Hath No Fury As A Woman Scorned

Chris Huhne has pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice in allowing his then wife Vicky Pryce to take penalty points on her driving licence for speeding instead of him. The former Liberal Democrat minister is now expected to resign his seat at Westminster and go straight to jail. Maybe cheating on your wife with another woman is not to bright a idea if she has something like this hanging over you.

Mario Balotelli Has Parting Shot At England

The former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli has lashed out at England after joining AC Milan in the recent transfer window. The tempestuous Italian added he has no regrets about leaving England and when asked what he disliked about the country, he answered: "The press first, the weather, the food, the way they drive and that's it," Balotelli said.

D-Day For Basil

Basil McCrea the Lagan Valley MLA is to face a Ulster Unionist disciplinary panel today. He has refused to be sworn to secrecy and has even suggested letting the press attend the hearing. Basil's crime is to support flying the flag above Belfast City Hall only on special days like Royal Birthdays etc. The three UUP councillors on Belfast City Council have threatened to resign unless action is taken against Basil McCrea. These three councillors helped the DUP hand out 40,000 leaflets which attacked the Alliance Party for supporting flying the flag on special days. The outcome of the hearing should be very interesting for those who wish to know if the Ulster Unionist Party has a future as a independent political party or will it be devoured whole by the DUP.
