Affordable Care Act Is Upheld By US Supreme Court

The US Supreme Court upholds most of the Affordable Care Act. Vote is 5-4 the court split on traditional lines ie Liberal/Conservative with Chief Justice John Roberts breaking the tie. The Affordable Care Act is the flagship of the Obama administration.

Remember The Poll Tax?

Margaret Thatcher introduced the Poll Tax also known as the Community Charge into Scotland in 1989. A full year before it was due to be brought into England and Wales. The Poll Tax lead to a massive backlash against the Tories and some say the final downfall of Mrs Thatcher. Many blame her stand on Europe but it was the poll tax which really did the real damage to her support. John Majors first act as Prime Minister was to scrap the Poll Tax and replace it with a Council Tax based on the ability to pay. In the end though Scotland was the Guinea Pig for a policy put together by a Westminister Government that had very little if any political support in Scotland.

Michael Brown has been given a extra six months in prison for breach of bail. Mr Brown was arrested in the Dominican Republic last January. He was sentenced to seven years in his absence in May 2009 for carrying out a almost 8 million pound fraud on Martin Edwards a former director of Manchester United.Michael Brown donated £2,400,000 to the Liberal Democrats in 2005.

Top Tory Spin Doctor's Wife Used Tax Avoidance Scheme

A Downing Street spin doctor Craig Oliver was secretary of Paya Limited a company set up to deal with his partners earnings. His wife Joanna Gosling a BBC News presenter was paid £150,000 a year into the private company. Experts claim this could have saved about £22,000 a year. Other BBC presenters including Jeremy Paxman and Gavin Esler are also believed to benefit from freelance contracts.

Scots "Do Not Trust Westminster"

The SNP commissioned pollsters YouGov to ask two questions. The first was: "How much trust, if any, do you have in the UK Government in Westminster to take the right decisions for Scotland?" Secondly, pollsters asked: "To what extent do you agree or disagree with the statement: It is better for Scotland to be part of the United Kingdom when there is a Conservative government in Westminster?".Seven out of Ten Scots do not trust Westminster to make the right decisions for Scotland. And only Two out of Ten Scots think it is better for Scotland to be part of the UK when the Tories are in charge.

Liam Holden The Last Man Sentenced To Hang In The UK Has His Murder Conviction Quashed

Mr Liam Holden was wrongly convicted of the murder of a Private Bell in 1972. Mr Holden was arrested by soldiers from the Parachute Regiment and taken to a army barracks. He was pinned to the floor by six men, a thick towel was held over his face and soldiers started pouring water on it. “What the soldiers did to me...water torture, hooding, putting the gun to my head, no one will ever get a real feeling of what it is like, it is like a slow drowning sensation.”

Mr Holden was also taken to Loyalist area of Belfast by British soldiers and told he would be shot unless he confessed to the murder.

SNP Attack The Lib Dems Over Anti-Independence Confusion

Angus Robertson MP said "By avoiding straightforward questions with a negative response Michael Moore has added to the state of confusion that has engulfed the anti-independence parties over Scotland’s constitutional future.

“Mr Moore and his Tory and Labour allies all admit that the constitutional status quo is not sustainable but, with only days until the formal launch of the ‘No’ campaign, he cannot name a single power that he would devolve. If the anti-independence parties claims were being genuine they have a democratic duty to set out exactly what is on offer.

“The anti-independence parties have been left behind by people across civic Scotland who are considering the powers that Scotland needs to have a successful economy and fair society - instead of savage cuts and a stagnant economy from the UK coalition.

“People in Scotland are entitled to know what the anti-independence parties have in mind, and whether their proposals include any real economic powers and responsibilities, for example, over welfare issues.

“Mr Moore seems to have ditched the Lib Dems’ own policy of more powers for Holyrood and is now just acting as a front man for a Tory Government Scotland didn’t vote for – no wonder so many Lib Dems in Scotland have abandoned the party in favour of the SNP.

"While we take nothing for granted, we are very confident that we can win the Yes case for independence and equality for Scotland in the referendum.”
