More On The Destruction Of The UK

Mr Hain said: “The implications of this cannot be overestimated. I think it would hobble the Union, and possibly destroy it.
“This is a blatant fix by the English Tories. They know the only hope they have of winning consistently is to separate Wales and Scotland from England.
“The whole principle that underpins the Parliamentary system in the UK is that all MPs have equal status. If Welsh and Scottish MPs were not allowed to vote on matters that superficially seem only to relate to England, that principle would no longer apply and MPs representing seats in Wales and Scotland would have an inferior, second class status.
“If that happened, there would be no question of any MP from Wales or Scotland ever becoming Prime Minister again. There would be no more Lloyd Georges or Jim Callaghans. This wouldn’t just affect Labour politicians – if the brightest and best Conservative MP happened to represent a seat in Wales, they would never be acceptable as a leader of their party.”

Peter Hain Says The Tories Could Break Up Union

I am extremely concerned that David Cameron has a ruthless agenda that is not about what is best for Britain, but what is best for the Conservative Party. They want to reduce the size of the House of Commons by 50 seats because that does maximum damage to Labour. If they had proposed cutting its size by 100, many Tory MPs’ seats would have gone too. In pursuing this agenda, the Tory-led Government risks breaking up the union.

So says Peter Hain the former Labour Cabinet Minister.

Vote For The SNP At The Inverclyde By-Election

This Thursday there is a By-Election in Inverclyde for a Westminister seat. Labour hold the seat with a 14,000 majority. But the SNP with all its recent success fancy its chances of capturing the seat. This would be a great coup for the SNP. So vote for Anne McLaughlin on Thursday and send another SNP MP to Westminister.

Alex Salmond And Borrowing Powers

Alex Salmond speaks out. "The Scotland Bill does not address the challenges ahead and that is why the Scottish Government has presented the Treasury with a comprehensive paper outlining proposals to improve borrowing powers in the Scotland Bill.
"There is clear agreement in the Scottish Parliament - which the Scottish Government shares - that more must be done to boost economic activity across the country, and that we must have the levers to shape Scotland's future.
"We are proposing substantial improvements to the UK Government's borrowing powers proposals. The original proposals were not fit-for-purpose, lacked long-term coherence and ambition, and would simply not deliver the changes required to meet the challenges ahead.
"The proposals for capital borrowing outlined by the UK Government earlier this month offer some modest progress, but have been developed without consideration or discussion on their suitability or affordability for Scotland.
"The Scottish Government is open to technical discussions with the Treasury on how to agree a sustainable approach to capital borrowing and our paper outlines the changes that would help take Scotland forward.

Alex Salmond Has His Enemies Worried

Willie Rennie, new Lib Dem leader at Holyrood, believes the surge in SNP support has made independence a distinct possibility. He said: "Independence could happen, because (First Minister] Alex Salmond is crafty he may well get people over the edge before they know it. He may well win it." Well done Alex for keeping all the unionists worried. Mr Rennie and his Tory pals in Government are quaking in their boots at the thought of a referendum on Scottish Independence.

Greece Votes Yes To Budget Cuts

The Greek Parliament’s vote of confidence in Prime Minister George Papandreou shifts the spotlight back to Germany and the European Central Bank as key to Greece’s quest for further international financial aid.Lawmakers in Athens supported Papandreou in a 155-143 vote after the prime minister shuffled his Cabinet and sought the chamber’s approval. The vote may bolster Greece’s chances of securing a 12 billion-euro ($17 billion) loan payment, which hinges on support from European leaders and on Greece’s ability to push through 78 billion euros in additional budget cuts next week. It looks like the ball is now in the court of the European Central Bank and the IMF.

The Bill also seeks to abolish outright an additional nine types of payment including allowances for group leaders, whips and committee chairs.

The Death Penalty

It costs 184 million dollars more to execute a prisoner in California than to keep him in prison for life. The American state brought back the death penalty in 1978. Since then the state has killed 13 prisoners. Costing the taxpayer 308 million dollars per prisoner executed. But it has not killed anybody since 2006 due to legal issues. Would it not be better for everyone if this state sponsored barbarism came to an end.

A Scotland Open To All

Alex Salmond has a plan to open Scotland's borders to thousands of immigrants. It has been rejected by the Westminister Government. David Cameron and his cronies like to pose as liberal open minded people but they are not. The ghost of Enoch Powell still it seems haunts the English Tory party. Call me Dave is more worried about what the editor of the Daily Mail thinks than the welfare of people who want to come to Scotland to work hard and provide for their loved ones. The SNP want Scotland to be a modern progressive country while the Con/Dem Government in London want it to be stuck in some kind of 1950's timewarp.

RTE Presenters Face 30% Pay Cut

Pat Kenny’s 2008 salary would mean a drop from €950,976 to €665,683, although the presenter has already taken a significant pay cut since he left the Late Late Show in May 2009.
The next highest earner at the station in 2008 was the late Gerry Ryan (€629,865), followed by Marian Finucane. A 30 per cent cut in her income from the 2008 peak would result in a drop from €570,000 to €399,000.

Ryan Tubridy earned €533,333 in 2008, although he is likely to be the best-paid presenter now, as successor to Kenny on The Late Late Show . Liveline ’s Joe Duffy’s was paid €408,889 in 2008. A 30 per cent cut would bring this to €286,222.
The other most highly-paid presenters at the station in 2008 were Eamon Dunphy (€328,051), Miriam O'Callaghan (€301,667), Derek Mooney (€286,809), George Hamilton (€219,833) and Seán O’Rourke (€218,656).
It is about time these overpaid pampered non-entities felt some of the pain other people are feeling. In fact 30% is to little how about a 50% or 75% salary cut.

Greek Tragedy

The Streets of Athens are up in flames as the Greek Government looks ready for collapse. The EU/IMF gangs strong economic
medicine does not seem to have gone down to well with the Greek people. But why are the Greeks standing up and fighting back unlike the Irish or the Portugese? I honestly don't know what is going to happen next we live in interesting times.

A Disunited Kingdom

Will we live to see the Disunited Kingdom of Great Britain? Alex Salmond: “They said they would never be a Scottish Parliament, and there is.They said we would never win the elections, and we won them in 2007. They said we would never have an absolute majority, and we have it. Now they’re saying we’ll never win a referendum on independence.” Who knows?

India Raises Interest Rate In Effort To Rein In Inflation

The Reserve Bank of India raised the price of borrowing from 7.25% to 7.5% the 10th rise since March 2010. The bank has said fighting inflation is its top priority and that growth could be hit in the short term.  Rising consumer prices have become a hot political issue in India, Asia's third-largest economy. The price of food is becoming a major concern to most Indians.

Scotland On Course To Produce 100% Of Its Own Electricity By 2020

The Scottish First Minister has said Scotland will produce 100% of its own renewable energy by the year 2020. Mr Salmond said, "The opening of the Arecleoch and Mark Hill wind farms here in South Ayrshire is a significant milestone for ScottishPower Renewables. It also underlines both the rapid progress Scotland has made in clean-energy generation and our industry's leading role in the wider development of a genuinely low-carbon economy across Europe.
"There are seven gigawatts of renewables capacity currently installed, under construction or consented around Scotland, enabling us to exceed our target of meeting 31% of our electricity use in 2011 from renewables. It is through the leadership of companies such as ScottishPower Renewables that we have made such progress and why, as we increasingly develop our offshore energy resources, I am confident we will achieve our target for Scotland to generate from renewables the equivalent of 100% of our own electricity needs by 2020."

Israel Must End The Collective Punishment In The Gaza Strip

The unemployment rate in Gaza remains among the highest in the world in the second half of 2010, the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said on Tuesday.

The study conducted by the organization said that over 45.2 percent of the working-age people in the coastal enclave were unemployed, a slight improvement from the 45.7 percent of unemployed in the parallel period in 2009.

This is collective punishment of 1.5 million people more than half of whom are under 18 years old. Israel should be ashamed of itself. It should end the economic blockade of Gaza now.

Sylvia Hermon Comes Out Against Corporation Tax Cut In The North

Sylvia Hermon the Independent MP for North Down has come out against devolving Corporation Tax to the North. In a interview with BBC radio she made her brave one woman stand against this tax cut."I've had the benefit of the evidence from the select committee about the two sides of the argument," she said. "I have to say at this stage I was not persuaded it was a good idea in the current economic climate".

David Cameron Warned Against Imperial Meddling By SNP

Alex Salmond has warned David Cameron not to interfere in a Scottish Independence referendum. He says it is up to Edinburgh to organize a referendum not Westminister. Mr Salmond said, "We are going to do it in the timescale I indicated during the election campaign and for which we received an overwhelming mandate". He also says that the referendum question will be a proper question. He did not rule out two questions this second question may refer to fiscal autonomy which falls short of full Scottish Independence.

Unionists Unite At Westminister To Try And Block Scottish Freedom

David Cameron is getting together with Nick Clegg and George Osborne and Michael Moore to form a Quad in opposition to Scottish Independence. The Westminister gang which includes only one Scotsman want to dictate to Scotland from London. The Yes to Scotland in Britain Campaign is also set to be launched. As MPs begin their initial cross-party talks names of politicians and celebrities who might front the Yes to Scotland in Britain campaign are being bounced around.
They include Alistair Darling, the former chancellor, John Reid, the former home secretary, David Steel, the ex-presiding officer, Menzies Campbell, the one-time leader of the LibDems, Malcolm Rifkind, the former foreign secretary, Alex Ferguson, the Manchester United manager, and Lorraine Kelly, the Breakfast TV presenter. A bunch of washed-up politicians apart from Alex Ferguson and Lorraine Kelly. Lets hope this campaign is a total failure although with the names attached to it I don't think we will have to wish to hard.

Scottish Government To Get Access To 2.7 Billion

The treasury in London is to give the Scottish Government access to 2.7 Billion pounds in borrowing. This is a early victory for Alex Salmond. The money will go towards building a new bridge over the Forth. And building a brand new hospital in Glasgow. This good news came after a meeting between Nick Clegg and Alex Salmond. Mr Clegg also distanced himself from the stupid remarks of Michael Moore about needing two referendums for Scottish Independence.

Michael Moore Should Engage His Brain Before Talking

Tories have attacked Liberal Democrat Michael Moore the Secretary Of State For Scotland. Saying he is out of his depth in calling for two referendums on Scottish Independence. Mr Moore seems to be out on a limb. His little solo run has got him no support. And it is only a matter of time before he is sacked and returns to the backbenches where he belongs.

Michael Moore Says Scotland Needs Two Referendums For Independence

Michael Moore the current Secretary Of State for Scotland says Scotland will need two referendums in order to gain its Independence. Alex Salmond the First Minister in Scotland does not agree with London's man in Edinburgh about this. Mr Moore has changed his mind more times than hes changed his socks so we can expect another U-Turn from him. Fred Phelps Attacks David Norris

“ I …warned America about Ireland’s sad, sick, sodomite culture and fag Irish Senator David Norris’s case before the European Court of Human (i.e., Fag) Rights. (Incidentally, the “Openly-Gay” fag Irish Senator Norris was represented before that Strasbourg European Fag Court, by the famous Dyke-Enabler and Irish President, Mary Robinson.) We warned that WBC has had lots of experience with Ireland’s militant sodomite citizenry, steeped for many decades in ignorant, blind, idolatrous Catholicism, belching out their vile fagspeak, slander, and blasphemy against God and His Word – cursing WBC members as guests on Dublin talk-radio shows. Remember, Martin Luther said Catholic churches, seminaries and monasteries are nothing but sodomite whorehouses filled with unnatural brute beasts and devils. We warned that the very leprechauns of Ireland are likely to be fags!”

So says Fred Phelps about David Norris who until recently was hot favourite to be the next President of Ireland.

Rising Star

Conall McDevitt should be the next leader of the SDLP. This young man should seize the chance and throw his hat in the ring for party leader. He is smart and well capable of leading a party  in real need of  leadership. Conall was born in Dublin 39 years ago today but grew up in Spain. This man of all the talents in this 24/7 media age could really mix it up with the SDLP's political opposition. Margaret Ritchie is not good enough to be party leader. In the recent Wikileaks leaks only Conall comes out of it smelling of roses.  So Happy Birthday Conall and now do the decent thing and save your political party from the political dustbin of history.
