RTE is taking action to improve the diversity on its channels. It follows complaints that not enough women or young people appear on its channels. But Steve Carson the Director of Programming has said "I don't believe you can run a station like Logan's Run" a reference to a science fiction movie in which people are killed when they reach 30 years old. RTE seems to be one of the few employers left in Ireland were once you get your foot in the door you have a job for life.
